Ever feel like you’re STEALING money from your clients? Every think, “omg, I feel SO BAD about TAKING their money!” I feel ya.
It’s a WHOLE NEW BALL GAME when it comes to entrepreneurship and actually having to ASK people to pay you (otherwise, you’re making zeroooo dolla billz).
I have some tips that will help you feel GOOD about asking for the sale…and getting PAID!
Last night in the mid-west, we had QUITE the exciting time. Tornado sirens, hail…all that jazz! And I was stuck in my car by myself on the side of the road. So, basically I’m a daredevil.
Speaking of daredevils, do you ever feel like when it’s almost time to make a sale that you’re about to climb the biggest, scariest mountain of all time? And sometimes, you’re so intimidated by the process that you decide to tap out and sit in the Starbucks at the bottom of the mountain, drinking a Pumpkin Spice Latte instead?
Um, I totally hear you.
When I first started my business, attracting clients wasn’t my biggest issues…SALES was! I had so many moneyblocks that I literally froze, awkwardly smiled, and walked away anytime someone would ask me what I did or, *shudder* what my prices were.
I even had a full text message typed out to one of my clients (aka a friend who wanted to work with me) ready to send apologizing for “taking her money”.
Yep, that’s where I was. And it was HORRIBLE! So what happened to get me from a place of “ew, money” to “My 90 Day is $3,200″ without batting an eyelash or sweating through my clothes? (I’m serious…no sweat stains)
When it comes to asking for the sale, it’s all about KNOWING (not just thinking…) that your service is SERIOUSLY going to help your potential client. You have their entire vision of where they want to go inside of your mind and can reiterate back to them exactly how to make their pain points go away, and their dreams happen WITH YOUR HELP. I’m talking a bit in my coaching language, so I’ll map it out:
1. You can fully see and FEEL their vision – So many people focus so much on GETTING THE MONEY that they lose sight of actually being of service to another human being. Your goal as an entrepreneur should ALWAYS be to be of service to your clients. Personally, if I didn’t close the sale, it’s because I didn’t have a clear enough vision of what my client WANTED from me. It’s one thing to know what they NEED. It’s another to know exactly what they WANT. The service you provide should be a mix between the two.
2. You know EXACTLY how your service will help them – When you have a DEEP knowing with yourself that what you provide is going to seriously impact your potential clients life, you become EAGER to share your offerings. You can see where they will be with your help and you’d be doing them a DISSERVICE if you didn’t offer them your product/service. As humans, we’re put on the planet to serve. That’s when we feel fully fulfilled. So when we pair our service with an IDEAL client who WE KNOW we can help, it’s a win-win. The more confident you are in your offerings, the more EXCITED (and less intimidated) you’ll be with asking for the sale.
3. You’re in-tune with their struggle – For me, the clients I work have the picture painted of where they want their life and business to go, but don’t know HOW to make it happen. I’VE BEEN THERE! I know that struggle and it took me YEARS to figure out HOW to fix it. I help my client skip the YEARS of struggle, get unstuck and create their dream blog+biz. I’m super in-tune with the language they use, the pain they feel, the desires they have that aren’t being met yet…all of that. I get it 100%. So when it comes to sales, I KNOW I can get them unstuck and I KNOW that they want THAT asap. So to not offer my services would in-turn KEEP them stuck and in a place of overwhelm. It’s my duty to fix that!
4. You’re giving them ACCOUNTABILITY! – This is a biggie. When people invest money into something, they’re investing a little of their heart as well. With that, comes a stronger desire to TAKE ACTION and make things happen. When people put some skin in the game (weirdest saying ever?) they hold themselves more accountable, they do what needs to be done and they MAKE STRIDES in their life and business. Freebies are cute, but how many freebies do you have sitting in your inbox, unopened, right now…….. Asking for the sales is helping your ideal client take ACTION and have ACCOUNTABILITY in their life. Pretty cool, eh?
